This came from Dawn - sounds like fun! Anyone want to go?
Poets & Writers is having a 35th Anniversary WRITERS BASH party on Wednesday, June 22, from 6-9 pm, to honor ALL poets and writers. It's going to be held at the Bowery Ballroom, on Delancey Street, corner of Delancey and Bowery. Free admission free refreshments, drinks, music--a band, live music. Poets & Writers is inviting people LIBERALLY--meaning, bring as many writer friends as you want.... With one caveat:
You must RSVP. The way the event is set up, they'll just check your name off the list at the door. But the more the better.
To RSVP, respond by e-mail to Tim Gyves of Poets&Writers, at tgyves@pw.org. Or call 212-226-3586, ex. 201. He prefers e-mail.

Anyone can post a poem here, as long as you register and are logged in. There are basically two ways to do it:
To post in the wiki section:
Put the poem's name in the Quick Edit box (at left) and click edit.
A new wiki page will open up.
Put your poem there.
Add some formatting if you like - click quicktags for some help or use html if you know it.
Add some links if you like (use double parentheses to make a link to your user page like this ((UserPageSchmoe)) or use brackets to make a link to a website like this [http://example.com|mywebsite].
To post in the Writing section:
The advantage of this option is - your poem will display on the front page of the site (until other posts scroll it off the page).
Select Writing > Edit Writing.
A page comes up - fill out the information.
Suggestions: For topic, select poetry.
Put the whole poem in the Heading area if you want it to display all in one place. OR
Put part of the poem in the Heading area and the rest in the Body area if it's a longer piece.
Have it both ways:
Post your poem in the wiki and announce it on the front page!
1) Use the first approach to put your poem in the wiki.
2) Then use the second approach to link to your poem: Put ((MyPoemTitle)) in the heading.

This comes from Ted Kooser's book, "The Poetry Home Repair Manual," page 6.
The Nobel Prize-winning poet Seamus Heaney, writing on William Butler Yeats, said (the emphasis is mine), "The aim of the poet and the poetry is finally to be of service, to ply the effort of the individual work into the larger work of the community as a whole." That's good enough to cut out and pin up over your typewriter.
If you had a typewriter...

Don't forget, peoples, spring is not here, like it shoed bee. Your responbilitea, then, is to bring out the spring hiding within. Overpretentious?! So is this stubborn winter.

Welcome, onions, hosts, turtles, slants, and tangents,
refugees from philosophy and philosophical revolters,
beaters, smiles, curls, and twisters,
find here a new for(u)M for your words
wiki words and wiki wiki (quick quick) words
as well as those more lengthy
some of what you can do here is
- log in - click register in the login box to set yourself up as a user of this site with a name, password, and email address
- post to a forum - I set up 2 but we can add more
- have a "home page" - type your name in search and see if one comes up
- edit your page or someone else's page (as long as you are logged in to leave your trail)
- leave a trail of poems (wiki pages)
- post an article (review, rant, feedback, etc.)
- set up an event on the calendar
and a lot lot more
not sure what all
site like a flower of inspiration
attracting word and wiki wizards
we'll see how it will bloom
