Elizabeth Schoen was a native New Yorker, born in the Victorian age and fully at home in the 20th century. At age 79, after a lifetime devoted to the concerns of marriage and parenthood, she enrolled in the College of New Rochelle, and received her bachelors degree at 81. A woman of unusual energy and firm convictions, she was a spokesperson for the elderly (like her mother!), and a gadfly to officials she thought were slow to act. In her 85th year she became a columnist for the Review Press-Reporter in Bronxville, New York and her columns appeared monthly in that publication until her death at age 96. All the essays in this book appeared originally in the Review Press-Reporter and are reprinted by permission. | Site Home |
